FAQ's
Can I ship directly to my friend/relative? TOP Yes! Save money on shipping by specifying the gift recipient's address. When you check out, you will see "bill to" and "ship to" fields. Please verify that the address is correct. If the package comes back to me as "undeliverable," you will have to pay shipping again. I live near you. Do I have to pay for shipping? TOP Certainly not! You are welcome to pick up your item(s) in person at my home studio in Stormstown, a township in Port Matilda, PA. If you have paid for shipping at the time of order and have decided to pick up the item, shipping will be refunded when you arrive. Why aren't your pocketchangers waterproof? TOP
I get asked this question often. There's a simple explanation why I use terry cloth for my pocketchangers--absorbability. If you're in the middle of a diaper change and the baby decides s/he's not quite done, where does it go? If you lift a waterproof pad that's been soiled, what happens?
While the pocketchanger will get soiled from time to time, the terry absorbs the mess until you can launder it. And laundering is easy! Just throw it in with a load of towels and dry per usual. Clean, safe, and ready to use again! What if I don't know the baby's name yet? TOP
No worries! Although personalized gifts are popular, you can still give a gift from Baby Goin' Places without knowing the baby's name. There are a couple of options.
1) You can simply use the first letter in the last name. For exmample, my last name is Askey, so any embroidery with an "A" on it would work for my babies.
2) You can order a gift set that will be mailed in two shipments. The unpersonalized items, like a pocketchanger, will be shipped first. With that shipment, I will send a card that says, "Upon the birth and naming of your child, you will receive (specified item, e.g. a blanket) personalized just for your baby."
3) You can order items without personalization. This is the least preferred, but it is an option! Unfortunately, there is no break in price for this option. What if I want a specific fabric for an order that you don't have in stock? TOP I'd like to think I have everyone's taste in stock, but I know some customers have extremely specific tastes. If I don't have what you want in stock, I may be able to special order a fabric for you. There will be a surcharge for this service, and the amount is determined by my cost. Please ask before ordering so that I can research your special requirement. What's up with the dropped "G" in "Goin'?" TOP Hey, I'm a Southerner by birth and I had to get a little heritage thrown in there somehow. Who taught you to sew? TOP My mother taught me most of what I know. I also had good home economics teachers in middle school and high school. The remainder of my skills comes simply from trial and error. Do I consider myself a sewing expert? Hardly. But I know quite a bit and love making the items I make. Do you ever teach classes on how to make your items? TOP From time to time, I do offer sewing classes. Classes will be announced as scheduled. If you are interested in a one-on-one class for any item(s) you'd like to make yourself, just contact me and we'll set it up. The cost is typically $15/hr plus materials. My friend isn't telling us the sex OR the name of the baby. How can I order? TOP
This one is a toughie. If she insists on keeping it all a secret, you can send me her contact information, such as a phone number or an e-mail, and I will contact your friend. I'll explain that there is a customer (who will remain nameless) who would like to order but we need her input on fabric choices and personalization. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. We can only try!
Usually in this case, though, a gift certificate is a good gift. What are your gift certificate terms? TOP Gift certificates can be ordered in any increment you wish. A certificate is then sent to you or to the recipient specifying the dollar amount. When she orders, the certificate is applied. If there is an overage, she will have to pay the extra, which may include shipping if applicable. |
